2023 Todd L. Bachman Invitational Tournament
The 2023 Todd L. Bachman Invitational tournament will be held October 13th-14th.
Todd was born on January 27th, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN to Lloyd and Marion Bachman. He grew up in south Minneapolis near the family business, Bachman’s. Todd spent numerous hours throughout his childhood working in the greenhouse and overseeing the crops with his grandfather, father, and uncles. In 1964, he graduated from Washburn High School and went on to attend the University of Minnesota where he graduated in 1968 with a degree in Horticulture Science and a minor in Business Administration.
Todd loved his wife Barbara and daughters: Sara (Brian), Susie (Lee) and Liz (Hugh) without limits. He loved his sons-in law Brian, Lee and Hugh; his grandchildren Laura, Jack, Thomas and Tyler; friends, colleagues and employees. Todd embraced life and was always grateful for moments of entertaining friends, captaining his boat, swimming with grandchildren, a big bowl of ice cream, Florida, golfing, overseeing poinsettia and lily crops, driving on the John Deere, James Bond/Indiana Jones movies, watching Wiz play volleyball, picking out the perfect present, gardening, the Minnesota State Fair, Sara’s memory books, fishing, watching Laura ice skate, holding Tyler, gadgets, grilling, short naps and family vacations.
Todd worked in all aspects of the family business ranging from his early days in stock to holding the title as President. He loved Bachman’s: the people, the customers, the flowers and trees, the products and services, and the industry. He took pride in getting to know the employees and enjoyed the challenge and responsibility of guiding the company through growth, management and change. Additionally, he was one of the driving forces behind the development and eventually the sale of Department 56. After serving as President of Department 56 for two years, Todd returned to Bachman’s as CEO and Chairman of the Board.
Todd Lloyd Bachman, age 62, loving husband, proud father and grandfather, devoted Christian, humble leader, and loyal friend and businessman, died on August 9th, 2008 in Beijing, China. Todd’s greatest joy was spending time with his family at home. He loved being with his wife, girls, sons-in-law and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed sunny days to work in the yard, splash in the pool and grill. He was goofy and fun. He was patient and thoughtful. He was kind and generous. He always took care of his family. He was their protector and hero. He was their heart and soul.
The volleyball program at Lakeville North High School is forever grateful for our past, present and future. Todd and his family left a remarkable imprint on this program, and it is our intention to continue to honor the relationship that was established and the person he was. Thank you so very much in joining us as we honor much missed Todd L. Bachman in our 37th annual 2022 Lakeville North Bachman Invitational.
